Welcome to Illuminary Lore! I’m Malea Sager, and I’m thrilled to share my journey of trying to overcome mental health challenges with you. After facing the struggles of anxiety and depression, I realized I was alone in feeling unheard and misunderstood by so many. That is when I knew something had to change, I know I was not the only one being unheard. Here at Illuminary Lore; we aim to shift, understand our traumas, and explore healing and hope together. Embark on this transformative journey of growth and connection!
My Story
My journey with mental health has been long, complex, and deeply personal.
In 2023, I went through one of the most difficult chapters of my life—ending a family relationship that left me mentally and physically drained. It was a time of immense pain and reflection. Like many who have experienced trauma, I cycled through the stages of grief, even grappling with a desire for revenge. But somewhere in that darkness, I paused and asked myself: Is this who I want to be?
One night, after a rare, peaceful sleep, I had a vivid dream where I heard my great-grandmother’s voice gently say: “Let them know they’re not alone.” I woke up in tears, laughing through the emotion, thinking—How do I do that, Grandma?
That moment sparked the beginning of Illuminary Lore.
I began diving deeper into mental health, exploring the healing power of aromatherapy and the calming effects of scent and color. I was skeptical at first—but once I experienced the benefits firsthand, I knew there was something real here. I also reflected on how, for years, writing had been my safe outlet—a place where I could express what I wasn’t able to say aloud. It reminded me of a letter I once wrote to the very person I had cut ties with—trying to be heard, trying to heal.
That’s when the idea clicked:
What if I could combine the power of healing words with the calming effects of aromatherapy? What if I could create something that helped others feel seen, heard, and supported—especially in moments when words are hard to find?
After two years of research, testing, and refinement—Illuminary Lore was born.
Illuminary Lore is more than just a candle brand. It’s a message. It’s a bridge between pain and peace, between silence and expression. Each candle is crafted with purpose—designed not only for those navigating mental health challenges, but also for those who want to support a loved one but don’t know how to say the right thing.
Whether it’s for yourself, a friend, a coworker, or a loved one—Illuminary Lore is here to remind people they’re not alone.
At Illuminary Lore, I believe every story deserves to be heard. My mission is to break the stigma around mental health and empower others to speak, heal, and connect. Together, we can build a community where vulnerability is strength—and healing is possible.
